The Giraffe is the tallest land animal in the world. The Northern giraffe is the biggest species amongst the giraffes. Full-grown giraffes stand 4.3–5.7 m (14.1–18.7 ft) tall.
There are about nine subspecies on giraffe:
- Nubian Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis)
- West African Giraffe (G. c. peralta)
- Kordofan Giraffe (G. c. antiquorum)
- South African Giraffe (G. c. giraffa)
- Angolan (or Smoky) Giraffe (G. c. angolensis)
- Masai (or Kilimanjaro) Giraffe (G. c. tippelskirchi)
- Thornicroft’s (or Rhodesian) Giraffe (G. c. thornicrofti)
- Rothschild’s (or Ugandan) Giraffe (G. c. rothschildi)
